i think everyone is entitled to complain about UI changes, but if you weren’t here when the reblog button was at the top of the post we can’t be in conversation
“oh it’s so different and awful and functions like an actual social media site now” correct. your pain is nothing compared to those who had to overwrite the muscle memory of scrolling back up to the top of the post to reblog
actually @staff you have the opportunity to be the funniest motherfuckers on the planet if your next UI change is to put the reblog button back on the top of the posts
post cancelled because google informs me this was over a decade ago and i am not okay
Childhood buddie AU where they’re best friends, Buck is on the football team and Eddie is kind of an academic guy and they don’t really match as best friends but they are. Eddie goes to games and he always always sees buck looking for him at the end of every game, and they smile at each other.
One night, a fourteen-year-old buck calls Eddie crying saying his dad was just taken away in an ambulance and he was kind of having a panic attack because Maddie wasn’t answering and his mom went to the hospital so Eddie gets on his bike and speeds to Buck’s house and he sits with him while he panics and cries and then Margaret calls buck and tells him Phillip is fine and like, yeah Buck isn’t the closest to his parents but it was his dad yknow? And he’s so happy and smiley and he hugs Eddie tight and Eddie kind of gets caught up in it and pecks a kiss to his lips and they freeze for a second before Buck pulls him in again and they kind of just sway and dance together, holding each other. They don’t talk about after that night.
Eddie knows he’s been in love with buck since he can remember but he never says anything because he’s pretty sure Buck is straight because he dates off and on through high school and it’s always girls. So he just suffers through it and then, well. Buck’s family moves away. And they lose touch. And Eddie never forgets Buck, not when he falls into bed with Shannon, not when he enlists, not when he has Chris, not when Shannon leaves.
Then one day, years later, he gets a message request on Facebook in the middle of the night. It’s soon after he’s moved to LA and Chris is sleeping in his bed with him because everything’s still new and he’s a little scared, and Eddie’s running gentle fingers through his son’s hair while he scrolls on his phone, and then the message comes through -
and his heart drops and he can’t breathe because -
Because why would he message him now? Why suddenly when he’s about to get married and not anytime before this moment? And why did he do it in the middle of the night?
and he kind of wants to just delete the message and pretend he never got it
tagged by @shitouttabuck and @rewritetheending (mwah!!) and since i’m finallyyyy writing a little bit again, here’s some of my post s6 fic:
“Take care, Eddie.”
“You too,” he gets out, and then she rushes off his front porch and out of his life.
Once she’s gone, Eddie takes out his phone with shaking hands. It needed to be done, but this whole thing kind of sucked and there’s only one person he can think of who’ll immediately make it better.
Can you come over? he texts Buck.
Barely 30 seconds later, his phone rings with an incoming call.
“Are you okay?” Buck asks before Eddie can say a word. “Is Chris—“
“Everything’s okay,” Eddie interrupts him. “We’re fine. I just– I broke up with Marisol.”
A sharp intake of breath. “Oh. I– Sorry, man. You need a shoulder to cry on?”
Eddie laughs. “Uh, something like that.”
“I’m leaving right now,” Buck promises. “See you in a bit.”
“Thanks,” Eddie says. He knows Buck isn’t exaggerating, was probably already pulling on his shoes while he answered the phone. “Drive safely.”
He texts Buck that he’ll be out on the back porch and then just sits there, waiting.
“Hey,” Buck says when he gets there, closing the back door behind himself gently. “You okay? I couldn’t really tell how you were feeling about this. You– We never really talked about Marisol much.”
Me, collecting traumatized comfort characters, skipping to ao3 to read about them getting even more traumatized, but also railed within an inch of their lives
